Subject: National Gallery of Art Photograph Conservation Program
The National Gallery of Art, Washington, announces the expansion of its photograph conservation program, which has been made possible by a generous grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. The six-year grant provides funding for additional photograph conservators, as well as a scientist devoted to the study of photographic materials. Constance McCabe has been appointed head of the newly established department of photograph conservation, and Sarah S. Wagner joined the department as senior photograph conservator in August 2011. Analytical chemist Matthew Clarke joined the Gallery's scientific research department in December, where he works with scientists, conservators, and curators to study the complex photographs in the Gallery's collections. Conservation scientist Christopher Maines will assist in the new research endeavors as the science advisor. *** Conservation DistList Instance 24:37 Distributed: Sunday, February 6, 2011 Message Id: cdl-24-37-011 ***Received on Monday, 31 January, 2011
