The Educational Outreach Officer's primary objective is to improve
the care of cultural heritage materials in the state of Ohio and
across the Midwest. S/he accomplishes this through a series of
interrelated responsibilities: planning and executing educational
programming; conducting ongoing public outreach; and serving as a
representative of the ICA to multiple constituent and professional
groups. Through these actions and associated marketing and
development functions, the Officer concurrently advocates for the
mission of the ICA and promotes its work. This position reports to
the Executive Director of the ICA. S/he liaises with the moderator
of the AMIEN educational website, and coordinates and/or supervises
student interns as needed.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Planning Educational Programming:

    Develops and executes educational programming aimed at a variety
    of constituencies, including lectures, workshops and symposia.

    Cultivates programming partnerships with collecting
    organizations, educational institutions, and regional/national
    preservation groups to reach the broadest possible audience.

    Utilizes electronic media (including website and Facebook
    updates, affiliate listservs, and targeted email campaigns) to
    promote programs. Creates hard-copy marketing and curriculum
    support materials in-house using standard desktop publishing
    software. Member of the ICA Education Committee.

Outreach/Public Relations:

    Performs site visits to collecting institutions to assess and
    improve the quality of their object care.

    Raises awareness of and support for preservation among members
    of the general public through lectures and participation in
    relevant community events (Ingenuity Fest, Fashion Week
    Cleveland, Hidden Cleveland, etc.).

    Proactively identifies opportunities for and promotes media
    attention on the ICA.

    Attends conferences as appropriate, both as an exhibitor of
    ICA's services and as a presenter highlighting ICA
    accomplishments.

    Conducts tours of the Conservation Center for interested
    parties.

    Manages the ICA's annual Subsidized Survey program.

    Serves as a representative of the ICA to groups including the
    Ohio Preservation Council, the Northeast Ohio Alliance for
    Response, and the Ohio Connecting to Collections Statewide
    Initiative.

Marketing/Development:

    Webmaster of the ICA website and ancillary web content
    (Facebook, YouTube, Cafe Press, Wikipedia).

    Author/editor of the quarterly electronic newsletter, ICA News
    Online.

    Creates promotional materials in-house using standard desktop
    publishing software.

    Prepares grant applications and award reports as necessary.

    Member of the ICA Marketing and Development Committee, and
    subcommittees as assigned (Membership, etc.).

    Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:  Bachelor of Arts in education, history, art
history, historic preservation or equivalent required; Master of
Arts preferred. Work experience in at least one of the following
subject areas required: museum education, collections management,
art history or history. Curriculum development experience desirable.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required. Some
experience with marketing and/or public relations functions
desirable. Proficiencies in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Photoshop,
Word Press, database management necessary. Regular travel around the
state of Ohio required.
