Subject: Setting up archaeological conservation lab in Turkey
I am in the process of preparation to set up an archaeological conservation laboratory for an archaeological excavation on a rural site in Caltilar, Southern Turkey for a six week period in the summer of 2011. This excavation will be a ten year project beginning in the summer of 2011 and is undertaken jointly by Bristol University, Liverpool University and the Bursa (Uludag) University in Turkey. I am writing for advice on all the factors that are involved in the setting up of a conservation lab for an archaeological excavation abroad, such as: What conservation material is available in Turkey (ie adhesives, solvents, etc.)? Suggestions on the most suitable documentation system for an archaeological conservation lab Any useful contacts in Turkey that may help in the preparation and acquiring of resources process Ciaran Lavelle Object Conservator Ireland +44 7759838621 *** Conservation DistList Instance 24:36 Distributed: Saturday, January 29, 2011 Message Id: cdl-24-36-018 ***Received on Friday, 21 January, 2011
