Assistant Objects Conservator Objects Conservation Laboratory Conservation Center Los Angeles County Museum of Art The Conservation Center of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art is seeking a qualified full-time, assistant objects conservator. This section of the Conservation Center is responsible for the care, preservation, examination and treatment of all three-dimensional works of art in the museum's extensive and varied permanent collections which include Arts of the Americas, Europe, Asia and the Pacific Islands, and Modern and Contemporary art with a growing emphasis on ethnographic art. Other duties may include but are not limited to routine laboratory maintenance, environmental monitoring, serving as a courier for works of art, and the preparation of condition reports for works of art on loan and/or exhibition. The incumbent, with the title of Assistant Conservator, will report to the head of the Objects Laboratory of the Conservation Center and may supervise pre-program interns, conservation interns and fellows, and volunteers. Minimum requirements: Master's degree in conservation with an emphasis on current ethnographic conservation practice as well as three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience with at least seven years experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. The successful candidate must be conversant in the use of software for writing reports and processing images. Clear oral communication skills and a desire to work cooperatively with curatorial, conservation and scientific staff is essential.
