Metals Conservation Internship
National Maritime Museum
London
UKP19,200

One year training opportunity

The National Maritime Museum is home to some of the nation's most
precious historic metal objects. The Museum's collections are
world-renowned, comprising more than two million items relating to
seafaring, navigation, astronomy and time measurement.

We are now seeking an ambitious and committed individual to develop
the skills needed to maintain, conserve and restore these objects.
Joining us for one year in a role funded by the Heritage Lottery
Fund, you will undergo a comprehensive training programme under the
guidance of our Senior Specialist. This will include learning and
developing the skills of a metals conservator, learning to conduct
assessments and produce condition reports.

A strong communicator with a helpful and friendly approach, you
should bring proven metalworking skills and familiarity with a wide
range of small tools. Experience of working with historic metals
would be welcomed, though it is not essential. What's important is
that you are keen to build your career in conservation within a
heritage environment.
