Metals Conservation Internship National Maritime Museum London UKP19,200 One year training opportunity The National Maritime Museum is home to some of the nation's most precious historic metal objects. The Museum's collections are world-renowned, comprising more than two million items relating to seafaring, navigation, astronomy and time measurement. We are now seeking an ambitious and committed individual to develop the skills needed to maintain, conserve and restore these objects. Joining us for one year in a role funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, you will undergo a comprehensive training programme under the guidance of our Senior Specialist. This will include learning and developing the skills of a metals conservator, learning to conduct assessments and produce condition reports. A strong communicator with a helpful and friendly approach, you should bring proven metalworking skills and familiarity with a wide range of small tools. Experience of working with historic metals would be welcomed, though it is not essential. What's important is that you are keen to build your career in conservation within a heritage environment.
