The San Diego Museum of man seeks an enterprising and
service-oriented conservator to join the staff of the permanent
collections as Conservator for the Collections Resource Center. The
Conservator will be part of a dynamic and highly motivated
department dedicated to building, preserving, promoting and
providing maximum access both physically and virtually to the
Museum's collections.

Under the general direction of the Project Manager for the
Collections Resource Center, the Conservator will provide oversight
of the collections with regard to conservation, help to plan and
oversee the physical and digital processing of collections and their
related material, promote the collections to the public and assist
in facilitating its use by scholars and students.

Graduate degree in art conservation or equivalent training is
required. A specialization in objects conservation and experience
with anthropological collections is preferred. Demonstrated written
and verbal communication skills, and demonstrated conservation
skills and knowledge are required. Preferred candidates will have
experience in the following activities: project planning, creating
budgets, supervision and management of staff/interns/volunteers, lab
design.
