Limited term position

The Getty Conservation Institute's Field Projects Department

seeking a Project Specialist to fill a three-year, limited term
position.

Responsibilities will include research and fieldwork for developing
and implementing practical conservation solutions at archaeological,
built and urban sites. Position works across a number of projects
within Field Projects, requiring versatility, creative thinking and
a sound understanding of and experience in the physical conservation
of buildings and sites.

Qualifications: Graduate degree preferred in architecture,
archaeology, urban planning or other relevant discipline.
Post-graduate qualifications in cultural heritage conservation or
equivalent practical conservation experience. Five years experience
working in cultural heritage conservation, preferably in physical
conservation of buildings or sites. Minimum of 3-7 years of project
management experience.

Professional Expertise:  Architectural conservation including
carrying out of documentation and assessments analysis of
deterioration and identification of causes, development of
conservation actions on historic buildings and preferably
archaeological sites. Architectural design experience including
structural and environmental knowledge in relation to historic sites
and buildings. Demonstrated experience implementing physical
conservation work on site and designing/implementing management
policies and actions on site. Some experience in new development in
the historic environment is an advantage. Experience and ability to
conduct research and analysis and synthesize it into conservation
programs and actions.

Excellent interpersonal and verbal skills and the ability to work in
small interdisciplinary teams. Excellent writing skills and ability
to contribute to and write reports, papers. Working knowledge of
GIS, Photoshop, AutoCAD and InDesign preferred. Good organizational
and time management skills needed. Must be available for frequent
international travel. Foreign language, such as Arabic or French,
preferred but not essential.
