Subject: Call for papers--Conference on Digital Printing and Photography
4th International Conference on: Preservation and Conservation Issues in Digital Printing and Digital Photography The Institute of Physics 76 Portland Place London W1B 1NT 27-28 May 2010 <URL:http://www.iop.org/Conferences> Organised jointly by the Printing and Graphics Science Group of the Institute of Physics and the University of the Arts London (Materials and the Arts Research Centre - MATAR), in association with the Society for Imaging Science and Technology. A two-day international conference for conservators, digital photographers and printers Following the three successful conferences held in October 2000, April 2003 and April 2006 we are holding a further two day conference to examine progress in research on inks, substrates and processes for producing digital prints which may be subjected to archival storage. As well as digitally printed materials from the world of fine art, the growth of digital photography is now introducing new photographic media into the archival system. The aims of this conference are to inform those responsible for the preservation of digitally printed materials about developments in digital photography and printing technologies, progress in research on inks and substrates and their significance for conservation and preservation issues and techniques. Our aim is also to develop links between related industries and the conservation/preservation world. The event is aimed at an international audience of photographers, conservators, preservation personnel, conservation scientists, and those working in the digital printing, ink and paper industries. Research areas explored in this conference will include: current developments and future trends in digital printing and photographic technologies; developments in substrates and inks including textiles, plastics, papers for both fine art printings and digital photography; standards for fastness, permanence and the role of scanning and file formats. This is a call for technical, research papers and case studies. As with previous conferences, the proceedings will be published.
