Paper Conservator The Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland (RCAMHS) (Fixed Term Appointment to the 31 October 2010) Salary range UKP21,330 to UKP26,823 Applications are invited for a fixed term appointment to 31 October 2010 within the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland <URL:http://www.rcahms.gov.uk> RCAHMS creates a unique national collection through its own survey and research, and by identifying and collecting material relevant to the built environment of Scotland. This work has been undertaken by RCAHMS for over 100 years and the ever growing collection currently contains some 14.5 million items, including photographs, aerial photographs, drawings, and other documents relating to buildings and archaeological, industrial and maritime sites. The paper conservator is primarily required to undertake conservation on material from the collections and to contribute to the preventative conservation programmes. A qualification in the conservation of archives and/or works of art on paper and good communication skills are essential; experience of working within an archive and familiarity with IT are advantageous.
