Subject: Call for presenters--AIC Book and Paper Group, ACDG
ACDG 2010 Call for Presenters The Archives Conservation Discussion Group (ACDG) of the AIC Book and Paper Group is pleased to announce the 2010 session topic: Working in an unstable economy: Experiences and insight on the conservation of paper-based materials in private practice This year the ACDG theme aims to highlight treatment techniques for paper-based materials such as books, paper, and photographs as they have been used, modified, or maintained in the private practice setting. The co-chairs are seeking individuals to present on topics such as: How the business is run, especially in light of tough economic times Types of projects and how they may have changed over the years Use of professional development opportunities Adaptation of treatments with limited resources Specific treatments typical of a private practice (such as book conservators often having to work on family bibles, etc.) and how they may differ from conservators working for institutions Speakers are asked to prepare a ten to fifteen minute presentation and provide a one-page handout for reference and Web-posting. If you have experience working as a private conservator of paper-based materials and are interested in sharing your insight and experiences, please contact us by December 11, 2009 at acdg.chair<-at->gmail<.>com with a short description of your project.
