Subject: Call for presenters--AIC Book and Paper Group, LCCDG
LCCDG 2010 Call for Presenters The Library Collections Conservation Discussion Group (LCCDG) of the AIC Book and Paper Group is pleased to announce the 2010 session topic: Conservation in the 21st Century: Revisiting past practices and their evolution in institutional settings In keeping with this year's theme, LCCDG would like to highlight treatment techniques for library collection materials as they have been applied, modified and/or maintained in institutional settings over time. The LCCDG and the Archives Conservation Discussion Group are working together to prepare sessions that complement each other. The LCCDG co-chairs are seeking individuals to present topics such as: How the department is run, especially in light of difficult economic times (including how decisions are made about work done with in-house staff vs. contract staff and services) Types of projects and how they have changed over the years How shifting library priorities effect conservation, especially in light of digitization and Google-ization Use of professional development opportunities and collaborative efforts Adaptation of treatments with limited resources Speakers are asked to prepare a ten- to fifteen-minute presentation and provide a one-page handout for reference and Web-posting. If you are interested in participating and sharing your experiences, please contact us at the email addresses below with a short description of your project by December 11, 2009. Thank you for your interest and we look forward to seeing you in Milwaukee.
