Call for Papers
Choices in Conservation: Practice versus Research
Interim Meeting ICOM-CC Graphic Document Group
Copenhagen / Royal Library
22-23 April 2010

The 2010 Interim Meeting of the ICOM-CC Graphic Documents Working
Group will be hosted by the Royal Library of Denmark. The Interim
Meeting will be dedicated to the broad theme of the application and
dissemination of recent scientific research and practice in the
conservation field of graphic documents.

Would you like to inform your field about new research projects? Did
your practice explore and confirm recent research in the field of
degradation, bio-deterioration, monitoring, prevention and storage
of paper and parchment? Are decisions influenced by the research
conducted during the last decade and involving the non- or
micro-destructive analysis of graphic materials (IDAP, MAP, STEP,
InkCor, Papylum, ServeNIR and other research programs?) How do you
evaluate the feed-back from research implemented in the professional
field in the recent past?

Contributions should focus on particular projects as examples in
research and conservation and in methodology of treatments, as well
as on theoretical issues and experimental models. Art technological
research, conservation techniques and tools will be given a forum in
the conference sessions and the conference discussions. The aim of
lectures and posters in this meeting is to showcase and discuss the
present status of research and conservation within the wider context
of library, archive and graphic document conservation (preventive-,
remedial- and restoration, as defined by ICOM-CC in 2008).

The deadline for receipt of abstracts of papers and posters by the
Working Group coordinator is 18 October 2009. Abstracts must not
exceed 500 words in total. They should include the title, authors'
name(s) and affiliations and should indicate the corresponding
author (see attached template). The authors of accepted abstract
will be notified by the 15 November 2009 and the program of the
ICOM-CC Interim Meeting will be available soon after. Extended
abstract will be published before the conference. We encourage
junior professionals and researchers, conservation scientists and
conservators working in the field of collections holding graphic
materials to contribute. In the case of the number of proposals
exceeding the meetings capacity, preference will be given to working
group members and members of ICOM-CC.
