Call for Papers Wooden Artifact Group (WAG) American Institute for Conservation May 11-14, 2010 The Wooden Artifact Group of AIC welcomes papers for the 38th conference to be held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The general conference theme consists of "Conservation Continuum: Examining the Past, Envisioning the Future". Participants are encouraged to explore treatments that have previously been used with success or failure on all types of wooden objects and to discover new ways of documenting, analyzing, and conserving wooden materials. Contributions to the conference can include a presentation, a published paper in the WAG post prints, a poster, or a possible discussion in a special tips session during the conference. Possible suggestions for topics are: Comparisons of consolidation techniques for deteriorated wood Use and application of analytical methods in treating wood materials Unconventional treatments Examinations of treatments several years later In situ treatment of wooden objects Effects of various contaminants on wood manufacturing Conservation of composite wood objects and materials Display and mounting issues Abstracts of 300 words or less should include the title, the authors' names, professional titles and affiliations and be sent to the e-mail address listed below. Presentations will be 20-25 minutes in length and papers will be published after the conference.
