Metals Conservator The British Museum UKP21,245 pa Fixed-term for 6 months, with a possible extension for a further 6 months The British Museum is currently looking to recruit a metals conservator to work in the Department of Conservation and Scientific Research. As a member of the metals conservation team, you will assist with the conservation of the Museum's extensive collections of archaeological and historical metals and contribute generally to the care of collections programme. In close collaboration with staff of the various curatorial departments, you will carry out all aspects of the practical conservation of metals for display, loan, storage and research purposes. You will possess a recognised professional qualification, which includes the conservation of archaeological and/or historical metals, and will have demonstrable practical conservation skills gained in previous employment or on training placements. Experience in the conservation of archaeological and historic objects from a range of different periods and cultures would be an advantage. On-site archaeological conservation experience and conservation knowledge of other materials, for example ceramics and glass, will also be an advantage.
