    An historical background of ship models from the 16th century to
    the 20th century; an overview of the technology, production and
    fabrication of models, identification of material, recognition
    of conservation problems, approaches and treatments; how to
    survey a collection; examination and condition reports;
    handling, moving, display and storage; engineering models.  The
    course will encourage active participation from those attending
    in order to foster the spirit of mutual exchange of ideas and
    experiences.

Conservation of Wax Objects

    A practical course that will provide an understanding of wax
    objects from a technological, structural and historical
    perspective. Conservation practice will relate to the cleaning
    of wax objects and seals and simple repair of broken objects and
    infills. This course is aimed at object conservators who wish to
    develop a greater understanding of the examination and treatment
    issues involved in the preservation of waxes. Practitioners
    involved in production, examination and conservation and
    restoration in this very specialised field will provide the
    teaching.

Course fees:  Non-residential course fee:  UKP345.  Fully
residential course fee:  From UKP459.
