This summer's Conservation Matters in Wales will have the theme 'The
Role of Science in Conservation'.

It will be a one day conference to be held on Wednesday 10 June 2009
at the Oakdale Miner's Institute, National History Museum, St.
Fagans, Cardiff. The conference is organised by the Federation of
Museum and Art Galleries of Wales and the National Museum Wales. The
conference is supported by a grant from CyMAL.

Programme

    10:25       Science: designer clothing for every conservator.

    2:30        Is conservation science doing all it could?  The
                case of ethyl silicate.

    3:00        The Curious Case of Blackening Cinnebar.
                Valentine Walsh, Fine Art Conservator and Restorer

    3:30pm      Scientific method in the transition from students to
                professionals.

    4:30pm      Coach leaves main car park for Cathays Park.

The cost of the day is UKP20 (UKP10 for students)
