Senior Paper Conservator
International Conservation Services (ICS)

International Conservation Services (ICS) has a vacancy for a Senior
Paper Conservator. The position is located in our conservation
workshop in Chatswood, a suburb of Sydney, Australia.

We require an experienced paper conservator with an interest in
providing conservation services to private clients to manage the
Paper section of our Materials Conservation Division. The Senior
Paper Conservator is responsible for providing condition
assessments, identifying appropriate conservation treatments and
undertaking the conservation of a wide range of paper objects, in
particular works-of-art on paper. The workload routinely also
includes the conservation treatment of archival material (including
maps and plans), photographs, books and wallpaper.

The Senior Paper Conservator is also responsible for managing staff
and workload in the section, dealing with clients, marketing the
section's services, and managing the section's financial
performance; and will also be involved in the broader development of
the Materials Conservation Division with the opportunity for wider
multi-disciplinary projects.

Demonstrable experience over a period of at least 5-8 years in the
conservation of a range of paper objects is required. Particular
expertise in the conservation of works-of-art on paper is preferred.
A tertiary qualification in conservation with a specialisation in
paper, or demonstrable equivalent on-the-job training, is required.
Membership of the AICCM (Australian Institute for Conservation of
Cultural Material) is expected for this role.

An interest in helping us to grow the size and scale of our paper
conservation services, including development of our paper
conservation team, would be beneficial.

Salary will be commensurate with experience in the range AUD$60,432
to $71,904 plus 9% superannuation. Australian citizenship or
residency is preferred, but we will assist with obtaining a work
visa if required.

International Conservation Services is Australia's largest private
conservation practice. We conserve a fascinating range of cultural
and heritage objects and artefacts including paintings, furniture,
textiles, paper, sculpture, archaeological artefacts and wall
finishes in buildings. We also provide a range of consulting
services relating to museum collections and architectural
conservation. We currently have over 25 staff working in Sydney and
Canberra, with projects across Australia, and in Singapore, New
Zealand and Antarctica.
