Internship in book conservation
The Chester Beatty Library, Dublin

The Heritage Council and The Chester Beatty Library are pleased to
offer a one-year internship in book conservation. The internship
will be based at The Chester Beatty Library <URL:http://www.cbl.ie>
and begin in the Autumn 2009.

The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the
Library's Head of conservation and be involved in every aspect of
work carried out in the busy Conservation Laboratory. The internship
will be based around two practical projects: the conservation of an
important collection of early printed books in preparation for
catalogue publication and the on-going treatment of the Library's
print collection. The intern will be encouraged to carry out a short
research project on an aspect of the collection, the subject of
which will be determined once the internship has begun.

Candidates should be recent graduates of a recognised conservation
training program (or have equivalent experience). The applicant
should be able to work with a degree of independence.

Stipend: 30,000 euro per year (subject to normal PRSI and PAYE
deductions)
