Help us to build on the recent successes of our new Centre for
Conservation and on the achievements of the National Preservation
Office over the past 25 years. This is your opportunity to use your
business acumen and your knowledge of preservation in delivering
services in a leadership role to support collections across the UK
and internationally.

Salary UKP44,596-53,367

Interviews will take place on 7-8 May 2009

Three year fixed term contract annually renewable

The integration of the National Preservation Office (NPO) into the
British Library as the freshly reorganised npo_at_bl from 1 April 2009,
is an exciting moment, opening up new opportunities to lead change
and develop new preservation services. Working together with the
public programmes of the successful Centre for Conservation at the
British Library, you will build on the goodwill generated by the
NPO's many years of experience in providing an independent focus for
the preservation of library and archive materials. You will lead the
npo_at_bl with creative ideas to take it to a new level, working both
across the UK and Ireland, and in international fora exploring
innovative ways to expand and market the commercial preservation
services provided.

You will have significant experience in the care of collections,
including digital materials, and a successful track record in income
generation and fundraising. You will be an excellent communicator
with extensive networking abilities and will be able to demonstrate
that you have the qualities to manage and develop the newly
structured npo_at_bl, to expand its services to remain at the forefront
of best practice and innovation in the field of preservation whilst
meeting challenging income targets.
