The Collections Management and Planning Division is currently
seeking a dynamic individual who will, under the supervision of the
Head of Conservation, provide conservation expertise to exhibition
project teams, collections, curatorial and other staff, in the area
of artifact conservation, with a specialization in ethnographic
conservation; carry out preventive conservation activities including
inspecting and monitoring artefacts, reviewing exhibit plans and
facility reports; organise, instruct and supervise the activities of
additional personnel in the ongoing care and conservation of Museum
collections and other objects in support of the various public
programmes and other functions of the Museum and perform other
related duties as required.

As the ideal candidate, you hold a Masters Degree in Conservation or
equivalent experience.

You possess knowledge of:

    The scientific theories, principles of conservation

    Processes and practices in the field of artifact conservation

    Specialization in ethnographic conservation is an asset

    Occupational health and safety principles and practices

    Various computer application software including MS Office Suite
    (word processing (Word), electronic spreadsheet (Excel),
    presentation (Power Point) and electronic mail (Outlook)) and
    database software such as Ke Emu

You have experience in:

    Providing expertise in the physical care and preservation of
    museum collections

    Carrying out detailed examinations of artefacts with the aid of
    technical equipment in order to determine appropriate
    conservation treatments

    Recommending and carrying out treatments on artefacts, including
    estimating costs or time for treatment of artefacts

    Working within an exhibit team to produce museum exhibitions

    Directing contractors and/or students in the performance of
    treatments and other conservation activities/projects

    Writing reports and providing workshops or presentations on
    related conservation topics
