Conservation Internships
The National Library of Ireland
The Chester Beatty Library
The Old Library, Trinity College, Dublin

In partnership with the Council of National Cultural Institutions
and to complement its Museum Standards Programme for Ireland the
Heritage Council is supporting conservation internships at:

    The National Gallery of Ireland
    The National Library of Ireland
    The Chester Beatty Library
The Old Library, Trinity College, Dublin.

The internships are part-funded by the host institutions

The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the
relevant Conservation Manager and will be involved in every aspect
of work carried out in the Conservation Laboratory. This will
include condition reporting and treatment of specific collections
(book collections and works of art) as well as working on
exhibitions, loans, surveys and housing projects. The intern will be
encouraged to carry out a short research project on an aspect of the
collection, the subject of which will be determined once the
internship has begun.

Candidates should be recent graduates of a recognised conservation
training program (or have equivalent experience). The applicant
should have enough experience to be able to work with a degree of
independence. Stipend: EUR30,000 per year (subject to normal PRSI
and PAYE deductions). The application procedure and deadlines are
specific to each institution. The relevant links can be followed

    (under Museums and Archives).
