Biodeterioration and biodegradation of synthetic polymers used in contemporary art

I am a student at ISCR (Istituto Superiore per la Conservazione e il
Restauro, ex ICR, Istituto Centrale del Restauro) in Rome. With my
fellow Francesca Ricca. I am working on a thesis about
biodegradation and biodeterioration of synthetic polymers used in
contemporary art. In particular, our research will focus on
polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and polyvinyl acetate (PVAc) in their
different applications. It would be very useful for us to get any
information about cases of biodeterioration of such materials stored
in museums, deposits or private collections, both publications and
personal experience of conservators and museum curators. Thank for
your support,
