"Feather and Gut: Current Perspectives, Research and Treatments"

Institute of Conservation ICON (Institute of Conservation)
Ethnography Group one Day Seminar and AGM
Huntingdon Room, King's Manor
University of York
Tuesday 23 June 2009

Following two successful workshops titled 'The Conservation of
Feathers' the ICON Ethnography Group is organising a one day seminar
to disseminate and debate current thinking and research on
artefacts incorporating feathers and also gut; a further soft
protein for which a review is timely.

Proposals are warmly invited for presentations and posters. Topics
may include, for example, preparation and manufacture, deterioration
studies, treatments, storage and display issues and solutions.
Discussions surrounding collaborative projects and ethical issues
are also welcome. Case studies and broader thematic papers are
encouraged.

Abstracts should be 300 words in length in Word format, and
submitted by Tuesday March 31 2009 via email to Helene Delaunay,
<hdelaunay<-at->thebritishmuseum<.>ac<.>uk>

Please ensure the author's affiliation and contact details are
clearly marked on the abstract.

Presentations will be 20 minutes plus 5 minutes for questions and
discussion. The papers and posters, where appropriate, will be made
available on the ICON Ethnography Group website as post-prints, in a
PDF format. Writing guidelines for the e-prints will be provided.

Any queries please don't hesitate to contact Helene Delaunay at the
email address above.
