Kunstmuseene I Bergen (Art Museums of Bergen)
<URL:http://www.kunstmuseene.no> is the second largest art museum in
Norway. The museum consists of 5 departments - Bergen Kunstmuseum,
Edvard Grieg Museum Troldhaugen, Museet Lysoen, Siljustol Museum and
Vestlandske Kunstindustrimuseum. The museum has approximately 60
employees.

The museum has an opening for a qualified (master level) full-time
Paintings Conservator in the department Bergen Kunstmuseum (Bergen
Art Museum). Interested candidates should have a minimum of 5 years
experience in the field. Experience with instruction and leadership
is an advantage.

Proposed starting date June 1, 2009, or as soon as possible after
this date.

Deadline for applications is March 10, 2009.

The position is within the conservation department of Bergen Art
Museum. The department consists of the Head of Conservation, one
painting conservator and one paper conservator in full time
positions, and one assistant (50%).

Bergen Art Museum's collections include approximately 10.000 works
of art, among them an important Edvard Munch collection. For further

The position involves all aspects of museum conservation; including
preparation for loans, courier trips, environmental monitoring,
research on the collection, exhibitions etc. as well as conservation
treatments.

The Head of Conservation will lead and organize the department but
is also responsible for all treatment methods chosen for
conservation of works in the collection (paintings, paper and
objects), preventative conservation, and the quality of
documentation.

He or she will give advice in relation to loans, exhibitions,
packing, transport, climate, framing, etc. He or she will also
coordinate the work in the department in dialog with the curatorial
department and the registrar.

The Head of Conservation reports to the Deputy Director at Bergen
Kunstmuseum.

The Conservation Department is an active department and we are
looking for a person with good communicative skills, independent,
efficient, well organised and someone who feels prepared to take on
a challenge.

Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications. (ltr. 36-56;
308.300 - 428.100 NOK). Kunstmuseene i Bergen is an Equal
