Conservation Scientist The British Library Are you intrigued by artefacts? Do you want to find out how they were made, what they were made of, and how they change over time? This is an exciting opportunity to join the conservation research team at the British Library, based at St Pancras, Central London, working with our unique collection of books, manuscripts, newspapers and a surprising range of artefacts. You'll help to plan and manage research projects, and take part in collaborative projects with other institutions, aimed at understanding how books, paper and many other materials deteriorate over time. You'll also give scientific advice and assistance to British Library colleagues and operate analytical equipment. You will be educated to degree level in science or cultural heritage conservation, ideally with a higher degree. You'll have an enquiring mind and a diverse range of scientific interests. A proven track record in delivering projects on time and to remit is essential, as is the proven ability to communicate research findings effectively, both orally and in writing, to a variety of audiences.
