The Preservation Directorate of the Library of Congress announces the 38th presentation in the Topics in Preservation Series (TOPS): "An Investigation and Treatment of an Uncommon Ethiopic Binding Structure, and Consideration of its Historical Context" and "Lithography in the Age of Silent Cinema" Pickford Theater, Madison Building 3rd floor Library of Congress 101 Independence Avenue SE Washington DC 20540 Thursday, January 29, 2009 10:30-11:30 pm Mr. Dan Paterson, Senior Book Conservator, and Ms. Cyntia Karnes, Senior Paper Conservator, both of the Library of Congress Conservation Division, will discuss two notable recent projects: the study and treatment of a book with an unexpected sewing structure from the Thomas Kane collection in the African and Middle East Division, and the analysis and treatment of three large-format movie posters from the silent film era from the Prints and Photographs Division. The Topics in Preservation Series lectures are free and open to the public.
