Subject: Questionnaire on polyvinyl acetate resins
**** Moderator's comments: Please respond directly to the author. A short questionnaire on polyvinyl acetate resins As I reported here last month, Union Carbide is no longer manufacturing PVAc resins (AYAA, AYAC, AYAF and AYAT). I am continuing to investigate possible replacement resins that would be appropriate for use by the conservation community. Possible replacements include the Mowilith resins (20, 30, 40 and 50), McGean B-15 and B-25 (formally Vinac B-15 and B-25), and the PVAc resins currently supplied by TALAS (called AYA_ but not the same as the Union Carbide resins as explained in my earlier post). It would be helpful in my evaluation of possible replacements if you would take a few minutes to answer the following questions (answers should be e-mailed directly to me). Do you use polyvinyl acetate resins in your work? If yes: What manufacturer/type and grade do you use? How and why do you use it?
