Subject: Wayback Machine
It is not only physical artefacts that can be destroyed in a flash. Millions of websites close down and yet they are often valuable to researchers. This must include many of significance to conservators. Whilst many of you will know of it already I would strongly recommend Wayback Machine <URL:http://www.archive.org/web/web.php> This archiving system trawls the net and keeps copies of over 85 billion sites, deleted and current including all old versions. You just put in the URL of the original version and it will find it for you. I discovered this when AOL deleted my own website <https://sites.google.com/site/simonbarchamgreen/> without any notice and without Wayback it would have been very time-consuming to recreate it entirely from scratch.
