Guildhall Art Gallery is looking for an enthusiastic frames
conservator to join its team.

The Conservation section currently consists of a Senior Conservator
(paintings), a Lead Conservator (frames) and Conservator
(paintings). The Guildhall Art Gallery is part of the Heritage
Services Division of the Libraries, Archives and Guildhall Art
Gallery department and this post reports to the Lead Conservator
(frames). You will be working on the frames within the City of
London's collection at the Guildhall Art Gallery, mainly of British
works of art dating from the seventeenth century to the present.

The City's Permanent Collection of Works of Art comprises c.4, 000
oil paintings, sculptures and works on paper. London topographical
subjects from the 17th century to the present are a major element
while other strengths include Victorian paintings; civic and royal
portraits from the 17th century onwards; the Harold Samuel
collection of Dutch and Flemish paintings; and the studio collection
of Sir Matthew Smith, comprising 175 oil paintings and more than
1,000 works on paper.

You must have a degree in a relevant subject and/or recognised
conservation training, and relevant practical experience, preferably
within a gallery/museum environment. We are looking for someone with
the ability to work in a team as well as independently and who has
excellent time management and communication skills.
