Conservation internships
Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County

The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County is pleased to offer
a conservation internship for the summer of 2008. This eight-week
internship is open to conservation graduate students enrolled in a
program leading to an MA or MS in conservation or the equivalent
certification.

The Natural History Museum boasts extensive, distinguished
collections in the fields of anthropology, botany, history,
paleontology, mineralogy, as well as most of the zoological
disciplines. Located in Exposition Park, just south of the
University of Southern California, the Natural History Museum is
close to a number of other museums and cultural attractions.

This summer's internship will focus on assessing and treating
objects to prepare them for long-term exhibit. The internship will
also provide experience in preventive conservation for artifacts and
specimens within the museum's cultural and natural science
collections. Aspects of the internship may be tailored to fit with
the intern's particular interests. All work will be carried out
under the direct supervision of the Head of Conservation.

Salary and limited domestic travel expenses will be provided for the
intern pending confirmation of funding. Note that full funding was
secured for the previous four summer internships. Both first and
second year graduate students are invited to apply. Applicants must
be U.S. citizens or have U.S. residency.

Please send a letter of interest, a CV, and contact information for
two references no later than January 11, 2008 to:
