The Musees d'art et d'histoire in Geneva, Switzerland, are looking
to fill a full time vacancy for a conservation scientist, to be
appointed as Head of conservation and scientific research.

The post carries full scientific, administrative and financial
responsibility for the museums' department of scientific research
and conservation. Scientific activities involve organizing and
leading research projects in close collaboration with the museums'
curators, their collections and their exhibitions and research
programme, as well as presenting the activities of the department to
the scientific community and the public through presentations,
publications and exhibitions.

The person to be appointed will hold a doctorate in chemistry or an
equivalent qualification and have several years experience in the
scientific examination of cultural objects, with an appropriate list
of publications. He / she will be familiar with conservation
principles and practice, have proven administrative and team
leadership experience, benefit from an extensive network of
scientific contacts at national and international level, speak
fluent French and have an excellent command of English as well as
another relevant language, preferably German.

He/she will be required to take up residency within the canton of
Geneva or the area defined by the city authorities.

The salary grade of the post is 17-19 on the salary scale of the
city of Geneva, currently CHF 101'379 - 151'506 p.a.
