The conservation unit based at Langelands Museum, Denmark seeks
applicants for a permanent position as artefact conservator with
special emphasis on social history objects made from inorganic
materials. The unit services 14 regional museums with mixed
collections and employ 4 full time conservators specialising in
textile, social history, paper and archaeological conservation. The
unit employs additional staff on fixed term projects.

A recognised qualification in general objects conservation or
equivalent such as training in a conservation studio and practical
experience is required. We are looking for an enthusiastic and
committed individual, who can work independently and to deadlines,
is keen to develop existing skills and knowledge as well as
acquiring new ones and take part in the day to day running of the
conservation unit. Often members of staff work together on projects
at the unit or the museums. It is therefore essential that the
candidate is interested in working with a range of different museum
professionals, and must therefore possess strong interpersonal and
organisational skills in addition to good communication skills.
Responsibilities include examination, photographic and written
documentation and remedial conservation. Preparation of objects for
exhibition, including designing and making mounts. Taking part in
general conservation activities such as environmental monitoring,
climate and pest control, collection surveys and  rehousing,
exhibition design, developing and running workshops for other museum
professionals.
