The Preservation Directorate of the the Library of Congress is
pleased to announce that the Preservation Research and Testing
Division <URL:http://www.loc.gov/preserv/> has openings for three
new science positions.  The incumbents will conduct research
associated with the preservation of the Library's diverse book,
paper, and photographic collections composed traditional paper,
parchment, leather, cloth and other traditional materials, as well
as film, sound recordings, tapes, discs and other more modern media.
The incumbents will join the Library's team of experts in three
specialized areas:  traditional materials, analog audiovisual
materials, and digital materials.  The ability to study the above
collection materials using state-of-the-art chemical, physical,
and/or digital data analysis instrumentation, develop strategies for
their preservation, and communicate research findings via
publications and presentations, is critical.  Salary range is
$79,400-$103,200, commiserate with experience.  More details can be
