Position at Vitenskapsmuseet

Vitenskapsmuseet (Museum of Natural History and Archaeology) at the
Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim,
Norway is seeking one conservator for its REVITA Project. The
position is a temporary, full-time post available for two years from
1 March 2008 with the possibility of extension.

The Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) and
Vitenskapsmuseet are legally responsible for the management of one
of Norway's largest systematic collections of natural and cultural
history. The REVITA Project is Vitenskapsmuseet's 10-year programme
(2006-2015) for the documentation, preservation, and security of all
the Museum's collections.

The REVITA project's conservators are be based in the Section for
Archaeology and Cultural History's Conservation Laboratory. The
Conservation Laboratory has a staff of seven including three
archaeological conservators, one paintings conservator, one
scientist and a section head. The laboratory has recently moved into
new facilities, which have been designed and equipped for the
conservation of a range of materials covering prehistoric artefacts
to cultural history objects. It also pursues the development of
methods, equipment and documentation for conservation.

Conservator (Paintings and Sculpture): This post is organised under
the REVITA Cultural History and Ecclesiastical Art Collections
sub-project.

The REVITA project is seeking a conservator who can work
independently, demonstrate initiative and work well with others. The
position is open to graduates in painting conservation specialising
in polychrome sculpture from a recognised conservation training
programme of 3-5 years' duration. Previous conservation work
experience will be prioritised.

Interviews will be conducted during week 2, 7-11 Jan 2008.

The position is remunerated between levels 36 to 50 in the Norwegian
State salary scale, gross salary NOK 292300 to NOK 367800 per annum
dependent upon qualifications. There is a compulsory deduction of 2%
for the Norwegian State Pension Fund.

The appointment will be made in accordance with the regulations in
force governing State Employees and Civil Servants. There is a
six-month trial period.

NTNU seeks to achieve a gender balance among its employees and
