Poultices

From: Howard B. Wellman <hwellman>

A colleague and I are wondering what poultice medium (e.g.,
cellulose or paper pulp, clay, laponite, etc) has the best rate of
absorbency? Have any studies been done on this subject?

The problem at hand is the removal of Sharpie or Magic Marker
graffiti from stone--which poultice medium will hold the greatest
amount of solvent, and produce the fastest and strongest absorption
of the ink into the poultice?
