UKP23,701 - UKP27,884 per annum (Pay Award Pending)

The V&A is seeking a full-time Furniture Conservator who will
undertake work on a wide range of objects from the Furniture and
Asian Collections and the V&A Museum of Childhood, in addition to
contributing to the V&A's exhibition and development programmes.
Work will include 'brown' furniture, clocks, decorative surfaces,
modern materials, organic materials e.g. ivory, leather and
tortoiseshell, as well as architectural models, period rooms and
toys.

You will have relevant experience gained working in a museum
conservation workshop or a private conservation practice, in
addition to having completed a recognised conservation training
programme. Cabinet-making or related woodworking experience and
competence with woodworking machinery are required. The ability to
be able to approach the conservation of a wide variety of other
materials with confidence and to quickly and accurately assess
condition, estimate treatment times, prepare treatment proposals,
deliver high quality conservation treatments and documentation,
often to tight deadlines are also essential.  Experience with wood
identification and/or microscopy is desirable.

You will be highly self-motivated and able to organise your own
workload with the minimum of supervision and be able to work
independently or as part of a team. You will have good verbal and
written communication skills. Familiarity with 35mm digital
photography, as well as experience with IT programmes such as Word,
Excel and Photoshop are required.
