Carol Stringari appointed Chief Conservator, Guggenheim Museum

Carol Stringari has been appointed Chief Conservator of the Solomon
R. Guggenheim Museum.  As Chief Conservator, Ms. Stringari is
responsible for assessing and developing policy and procedures for
the care and treatment of the collection in New York.  Working
closely with the conservation and curatorial staffs, she will
identify significant areas of research and treatment priorities, and
develop an ongoing scientific program for the analysis and study of
modern and contemporary materials.  Additionally, Ms. Stringari will
lead an institutional initiative to garner support for upgrading the
conservation laboratory as well as building the conservation staff.
In addition to her museum work, for which she is widely recognized,
Ms. Stringari has lectured and published extensively on various
subjects including the preservation of unconventional art forms, the
Variable Media Initiative, treatment of monochromatic paintings, Ad
Reinhardt and Laszlo Moholy-Nagy.
