Etherington Conservation Services

Etherington Conservation Services (ECS) seeks candidates for the
position of Senior Conservator. The Senior Conservator will be
responsible for the management of the paper/photograph conservation
department. The individual will join our current four-member staff
of the paper/photograph conservation department and will assist with
conservation treatments, examination, and preservation initiatives
of client institutions.  The opening is a full-time position in our
regional conservation facility in Browns Summit, North Carolina,
USA.

Duties will include the supervision of staff, scheduling of
projects, coordination of workflow and interaction with clients. The
candidate must have advanced level capability and skills that can be
demonstrated and taught to other developing conservators.  The
individual must be able to instruct and demonstrate conservation
techniques and procedures complying with AIC standards of practice.
He/she is required to maintain the departmental structure and
organization, as well as, coordinate work resources including labor
and materials.  The Senior Conservator is required to meet and
interact with clients on a professional level, including the
attendance at professional conferences, presentation of lectures and
workshops.

    Able to coordinate the operation of the department and manage
    the department's productivity.

    Develop and promote client and prospect opportunities by
    promoting conservation services.

    Supervise staff members at all levels.

    Conduct advanced level treatment procedures proficiently.

    Schedule and coordinating work flow.

    Perform examination procedures and submits proposals and
    individual cost estimates.

    Be well organized and capable of complex problem solving.

    Conduct on site surveys and client consultation when necessary.

Qualifications: Master's degree from a recognized conservation
training program or equivalent professional training and experience
treating works on paper.  A minimum of 5 years of practical
experience is required, 10 years experience preferred. Special
consideration will be given to individuals who have worked with
photographic materials.   Good organizational and verbal skills and
an ability to work in a group environment are necessary.

Base Annual Salary: $50,000.00
