2007-2008 RESTORE
Course on Masonry Conservation For Architects, Engineers,
Craftworkers, Contractors and Conservators

Earn 50 AIA Continuing Education Learning Units, 14 of which qualify
for AIA Health, Safety, Welfare credit.

RESTORE will begin its 31st year of the RESTORE Course on Masonry
Conservation on Tuesday, November 13, 2007.

The RESTORE classes meet on Tuesday evenings, from 6pm-8pm, from
November through May at the

    Donnell Library
    20 West 53rd Street
    New York NY

RESTORE Laboratory and field-workshop sessions are scheduled during
April and May, 2008.

RESTORE offers a materials science approach to architectural
conservation. Topics covered in the RESTORE curriculum include:

    Preservation of masonry structures with a materials science
    focus: chemical and physical properties of masonry materials

    Masonry decay processes and problem analysis

    Technology of cleaning masonry structures and the use of
    coatings and consolidants

    Technology of masonry repair, mortar matching, repointing,
    grouting and replacement materials

    Field and laboratory testing--with a materials science focus on
    masonry conservation

    Special problems related to design and detailing

    Health and environmental hazards inherent in architectural
    preservation materials and processes

The RESTORE faculty consists of a team of nationally and
internationally renowned building conservators, craftworkers,
architects, engineers, chemists, geologists, materials consultants
and industrial hygienists. All have had many years of field
experience and are recognized leaders in their areas of expertise.
