Atlas of plant material from New Zealand and the Pacific
He rarangi whakaaturanga o nga taonga rakau

This free-to-use database can assist employees and volunteers in
cultural institutions to identify plant materials used in artefacts.

The database includes images of leaf surfaces and cross-sections, as
well as information on the plants and traditional uses. It is hoped
that users will add to the database by submitting images.

The database is hosted at

The work was funded by The Lottery Grants Board (Lottery Environment
and Heritage Committee, New Zealand) and was completed by Dr Debra
Carr and Natasha Cruthers (Clothing and Textile Sciences, University
