In recognition of his long and exceptional contribution to the
development of understanding in conservation, the excellence of his
dedicated research and his ready engagement with the practitioners
of the conservation profession, I am delighted to inform you that
Dr. Vincent Daniels has been awarded the Royal Warrant Holders
Association 2007 Plowden Medal.

This gold Medal, commemorating the life and work of the late Hon.
Anna Plowden CBE (1938 - 1997),  is awarded annually to an
individual who has made a significant contribution to the
advancement of the conservation profession and whose nomination
would be widely welcomed within the conservation community.

Vincent's career in conservation science spans 33 years, in which
time he has published research on a range of materials including
pigments. paper and textiles. As well as his own research, Vincent
has engaged with the communication of conservation science to the
profession and to conservation students. Vincent joined RCA/V&A
Conservation as a Research Fellow in 2003 following retirement from
the British Museum after twenty-three years there. He is currently
studying the deterioration of black-dyed wool.
