The Shelburne Museum <URL:http://www.shelburnemuseum.org> is
offering a 15-month Advanced Conservation Fellowship in objects
conservation, funded by IMLS. The fellow will learn and assume some
of the duties of the staff objects conservator such as preparing
artifacts for exhibition and loan, integrated pest management,
advising curators, training volunteers, guides, and art handlers,
and maintaining the conservation laboratory. This will free the
objects conservator to examine and treat 27 painted panels from the
1902 Dentzel carousel and its organ. The fellow will also assist
with the treatment of the large painted panels. IMLS has funded an
exhibit on conservation at Shelburne Museum as an educational
component of this grant and the fellow will assist with designing
and mounting this exhibit. In addition, the fellow will be exposed
to practical environmental improvement techniques and be encouraged
to conduct practical treatment-related research.

The project will commence September, 2007 and will carry an annual
salary of $28,000 with benefits and a travel allowance. Housing
shared with other museum fellows and interns is available. The
successful candidate will be a graduate of a master's degree program
in art conservation or have equivalent experience.  Some experience
in textile conservation is desirable. Interested candidates should
