Applied Museum Studies of Algonquin College Launches Online Requests
for Community Partnerships Website

The Applied Museum Studies (AMS) program of Algonquin College has been
facilitating the development of Field Placements and Special Project
opportunities, for students of the AMS program, for over 35 years.
These partnerships are recognized as an invaluable opportunity for
students to further develop and apply recognized professional museum
practices.

AMS program has launched its "online requests for community
partnerships" website:

    <URL:http://www.algonquincollege.com/museum/partnerships.html>

The web site features a brief overview of Field Placement
Requirements and Special Project Partnerships. Two supporting
documents, in word format, are available for review. They include;

    Hosting a Field Placement
    Special Project FAQ's

The AMS program has also posted examples of past student special
projects, in PDF format.

Areas of Study include, Museum Management, Public Programming,
Conservation, Exhibit Design/Construction and Collections
Management.

Institutions wishing to host a student as part of a Field Placement
or to partner with a student in the development of a Special Project
can formally request a partnership by completing the online request
form.

Requests from industry specialists are received by the program,
assessed and posted for student review. If a student is interested
in participating in a partnership with your institution they will
contact you directly.

Please note that the AMS program receives more requests for field
placements and special projects than it can accommodate and the
submission of a request to host a student as part of a field
placement or to partner in a special project is not a guarantee that
one will occur.

If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact
me directly.
