Full-time, permanent position

The National Archives is seeking to appoint a highly motivated
Senior Paper Conservator to join the Conservation Section of the
Department of Collection Care. Working directly with the Head of
Conservation the successful candidate will be actively engaged in
the further development of an energetic team of conservators
committed to improving conservation practice for the National
Archives.

The post holder will be principally responsible for taking a strong
leadership role in building the knowledge and skills base within the
department. This will be achieved by undertaking high-level
conservation treatments through teaching and standard setting. In
addition, the Senior Paper Conservator will be expected to actively
promote the work of the department, both within The National
Archives and wider through publications and presentations.

You will be a graduate from a recognized conservation programme
(preferably to MA level) or have equivalent work experience, with a
demonstrable knowledge of up-to-date conservation practice and
ethics and have ICON accredited membership of PACR (Professional
Accreditation of Conservators-Restorers) or a willingness to undergo
the accreditation process.

You will also have excellent written and verbal communication and
presentation skills, a demonstrable ability to work independently
and an ability to take a leadership role within a team.  You must
also have a good working knowledge of IT systems including MS
office.
