Lancashire County Museum Service (LCMS) manages a portfolio of 12
museums and historic sites in the County. The Museums reflect the
rich cultural, industrial and natural heritage of Lancashire and
range from country houses to preserved textile mills. LCMS has a
specialist team of curators and conservators supported by
educational, marketing and administrative staff. Many of these
specialist services are made available to the wider museums
community in the North West.

Lancashire Conservation Studios is the conservation section of
Lancashire County Museum Service. Based in Preston and working in
new purpose built studios within a historic grade2 listed Church.
The studios are considered a landmark development to promote
conservation to the public and enhance facilities for collection
care training across the North West.

Working within a team of specialist conservators and technicians the
successful applicant will be working on a broad range of works of
art on paper and social history items from the LCMS collections and
also from external organisations. Combined with this they must be
prepared to promote conservation and collection care to a wider
audience of museum professionals and the public.

You should have a recognised degree, post graduate diploma or
equivalent experience in a conservation environment. Post
qualification experience is desirable. Candidates should have good
planning, organisational and communication skills and the ability to
work to deadlines.
