The Provincial Archives of Alberta acquires, preserves and makes
available for research, public and private records of enduring value
and provincial significance in order to preserve the collective
memory of Alberta and contribute to the Alberta identity. Come and

The Provincial Archives of Alberta is currently looking for an
experienced Audiovisual Conservator to join the Access and
Preservation Services team.  Reporting to the Assistant Director,
Access and Preservation Services and working closely with the Paper
Conservator, Archivists and Archives Technicians, this position
identifies and addresses preservation and conservation issues
relating to the holdings of the Provincial Archives.

Using your solid grounding in conservation theory and material
science you will identify and assess the condition of a variety of
audiovisual media, including film, magnetic and digital media and
photographic material.

Demonstrating your ability to work in a team and client-oriented
environment, you will provide preservation services for audiovisual
holdings at the Archives including analogue and digital formats.
This includes but is not limited to stabilization and restoration
treatments, reformatting, preventative preservation techniques,
preservation survey and condition reports, and materials testing.
You will also be involved in supervising interns, temporary staff,
contractors and volunteers. Please note that incumbents must have
the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications: Related degree and considerable related experience
including preservation and conservation techniques in multiple
media; familiarity with archival practices and procedures is
required. Qualification in preservation and conservation treatments
of archival records from a professionally recognized institution is
mandatory. Supervisory experience is an asset. Experience with
Microsoft Office is required. Experience with operating and
maintaining audiovisual equipment (both current and obsolete) is an
asset. Equivalencies will be considered.

Salary: $56,832 - $74,496
