From: Alison Freake <alison.freake>
Date: Monday, May 7, 2007
The Friends of the Provincial Archives of Alberta is pleased to
offer a Young Canada Works Internship in conservation at the
Provincial Archives of Alberta. Based in Edmonton, the Conservation
Technician will work on a variety of treatment, collections
management, and outreach projects designed to expand the intern's
knowledge of preservation and its applications in an archival
context. Projects include storage upgrades for textual records and
documentary art collections, exhibit development, workshop planning
and implementation, and assessment and treatment of paper-based
records (textual and photographic).

This internship position requires a solid background in the
conservation of historic materials. The ideal candidate would be a
recent graduate of a conservation programme with an archival
conservation component. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required,
specifically Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint. Public speaking
skills and the ability to connect with the general public are also
important, as is the enthusiasm to make the most of an excellent
practical learning opportunity.

The Friends of the Provincial Archives of Alberta welcomes
applications from all qualified parties, subject to the terms of the
Young Canada Works programme. All applicants are given fair and
equitable consideration for employment. All applications will be
reviewed by a panel and interviews may be held in person or by
telephone.

This position is scheduled to run for 23 weeks, from June
25-November 30, 2007 with a stipend of $19.00/hour (36.25 hours per
week).

Applications should be submitted by May 28, 2007 to:
