Conservation in wales summer conference

Conservation Matters in Wales, On display: Showcases and enclosures
The Federation of Museums and Art Galleries in Wales with the
National Museum of Wales announce a conference,

This will be a one day conference to be held on Thursday 14 June
2007 at the Oakdale institute, Museum of National History, St.
Fagans, Cardiff.  The programme is as follows:

10:00 am        Registration and coffee

10:30 am        The History of the Showcase
                Dr. Caroline Buttler, National Museum Wales

11:00 am        The Conservator's Ideal Showcase
                Andrew Calver, Museum of London

11:30 am        The Designer's Ideal Showcase
                Heather Maximea, Lord Cultural Resources

12:15 pm        Monitoring Inside Enclosures
                Sarah Lambarth, Environmental Management Intern.
                English Heritage

12:45 pm        Lunch

1:30 pm         Developments in Case Lighting
                Mark Dale, Initial Lights

2:00 pm         Microclimate Control Systems

2:30 pm         Security considerations
                Peter Osborne, Security Consultant

3:00 pm         The SS Great Britain Enclosed
                David Watkinson, Cardiff University

3:30 pm         The Big Box: Specifying and designing an archive
                storage facility

4:00 pm         Tea, finish

There will be a coach to take delegates from outside the National
Museum Wales at Cathays Park, Cardiff to St. Fagans at 9:30 am,
returning at 4:30 pm.  The cost of the conference is UKP20 (Students
UKP10).  If you wish to attend, send a cheque and your details to
