The Supervisory Program Specialist (Chief, Preservation Reformatting
Division) manages a Preservation Reformatting Program which includes
conversion to microfilm and facsimile paper copying, as well as a
Digital Preservation Program which develops, tests, and evaluates
emerging digital preservation practices and reformatting
technologies. The Supervisory Program Specialist applies nationally
recognized preservation reformatting and digitization standards and
guidelines and develops its own requirements when necessary. Work is
performed by a variety of internal and external service bureaus and
is coordinated with collections managers and curators throughout the
Library. The Preservation Reformatting Division manages a quality
assurance program to assure that reformatted products meet
standards, the Library's requirements, and end-users' needs.
