As a starting point, The Rape of Europa contains many references to
primary and secondary sources on the activities of the Monuments
officers, especially George Stout, during the war. (Lynn H.
Nicholas, The Rape of Europa. The Fate of Europe's Treasures in the
Third Reich and the Second World War, Macmillan, London, 1994.) For
pre-war activities of e.g., Stout and Sheldon Keck, try leafing
through the archive of Technical Studies in the Field of the Fine
Arts.
